Advised to buy this type of product - searched internet, chose this one due to reviews read on this and other similar products. Really pleased i went with this - had a play ahead of camping trip, wound up manually indoors and let it run down, easily gives 20 mins light after 1 min. winding - gave plenty of light at bedtime in tent, easily enough to change and find items, although agree not ideal for reading -would recommend

We decided to try camping this year for getting the boys out and about in the fresh air, so along with other stuff, we decided to buy these lanterns, and being wind up was a bonus cos I had visions with us going through so much batteries with torches and other lighting options. These lanterns worked a treat, they did exactly what they said and then some. I know everyone has different opinions and different expectations, but I can honestly say they worked great for us. I got two of them one for each bedroom, as soon as they arrived in the house I tested them out, I did exactly what it said to wind it up continuously for one minute, this should have gave it 20 minutes lighting, I left them switched on for 30 minutes and they were still illuminated. So I packed them up and put them with the other equipment. First time away I put one on at night in the bedroom for my youngest son, and I thought as long as it lasts till he is sleeping thats fine, I woke up about 5 hours later and it was still on, granted it wasn't as bright but it still had some energy in it. So I can honestly recommend.

Very pleased, lantern has input for power on side, i charged with solar charger from Power Bee sold on amazon, wind up also works well . well made for price, resonable light, I tried reading by it and found it possible.
Another for my pile of usefull gadgets.

Do not just rely on this as only source of light whilst camping. We did and we were stumbling around everywhere. Even on brightest setting was not sufficent light. Wind up notion and how long it lasts for was good though (even though my other half managed to snap handle off!) No a good buy and wouldn't recommend as stand alone item.
