Took the adaptor on holiday and used it to try and charge a HTC phone. After about 15 minutes the adaptor died. I can only assume that this is because the USB interface on the adaptor is not rated for charging high current devices, and has no over-current protection circuitry.

I bought this primarily to charge my MP3 player after the last mains charger I bought for it went 'pop' very quickly. I'm delighted with it as I can use it abroad. It also works as an adapter for ordinary UK plugs abroad, reducing the amount of electrickery to pack. The only slightly less than perfect thing about it is that sometimes the USB light doesn't come on to show that it's charging, but as the charge light comes on on my MP3 player it doesn't really matter. It's really easy and convenient to use, and gadget freaks will love pulling it apart to make the different connections for different countries. Whoever invented this deserves a gold star!
