4 out of 5 stars The First Rule   June 27, 2010
PP Wright
This is an execellent narrative with a well developed character that has been taken to the for rather than as a sidekick. The narrative is straight forward and fast moving with out the sidetrack of angst that tends to be used for some novels.

5 out of 5 stars Great read   May 12, 2010
Mr. Michael Adams (Cornwall, England)
As always, a really well-written, exciting story. Character of Pike is a real favourite and this story does not disappoint.

2 out of 5 stars Robert runs out of steam   May 11, 2010

To put this review in context, I've read all his other novels, plus all the novels of Harlan Coben, Lee Child & Michael Connelly. I usually rate Robert Crais highly but like the other authors listed, feel he's been running out of steam lately. I guess after a dozen or so books, they just start to run out of great ideas. The story just isn't that interesting or exciting - Pike is a great character in the Myron Bolitar series, but being taciturn and uncommunicative, doesn't make for much of a lead character. It certainly isn't a patch on his best work.

5 out of 5 stars cole and pike thrill me again   April 22, 2010
Andrea Whitaker (houghton le spring uk)
once again robert crais sends you on a rollercoaster ride with thrills and spills all the way. pike is fabulously cool and menacing all at the same time and elvis cole well you just so would!! there is very little to disappoint in this novel except i wish it could have lasted me a bit longer. if you havent read any of robert crais' novels well where have you been!! if you are a fan this is a long awaited joy. have fun.

3 out of 5 stars Disappointed   April 21, 2010
B. J. Longstone-hull (unied kin)
I found this book to be predictable and slow, I had no dificulty in putting this book down. Having read the dust cover blurb i expected this work to be on parr with Lee Childs,BIG MISTAKE. (see 61 hours, by Lee Childs)
